CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

- Main Functions
The circulatory system is an organ system that permits blood to circulate and transport nutrients and oxygen throughout the body.
The system is comprised of the heart and blood vessels.
- Organs
Blood vessels: Superior vena cava, aorta, aortic semilunar valve, pulmonary artery, pulmonary semilunar valve, pulmonary veins, right atrium, left atrium, left ventricle and right ventricle.
Heart
- Relationship with the other systems
The connection with the respiratory system is at the lungs.
Another system that have a connection to the circulatory is the urinary system (excretory).
The digestive system is the last connection, the nutrients are absorbed in the intestine.
- Illnesses
1. Heart attacks; A heart attack occurs when not enough blood reaches your heart.
2. High blood pressure; Blood Pressure is the measurement of how much force is used to pump blood through your arteries.
3. Strokes; Strokes often occur when a blood clot blocks an artery in the brain and reduces the blood supply.
