Daisy

Daisy (Bellis perennis) Is a garden perennial plant belonging to the family Asteraceae.

It is native to Europe and Asia and a common wild plant in the United States.

Daisies are unusual. A "Daisy flower" is actually made up of two types of flowers: the center of the daisy flower is a collection of disk flowers. 

And the petals are individual ray flowers. Each disk flower is an individual flower made up of a stamen, carpel and ovary. the ray flowers, however, are sterile. The disk flowers are yellow. The ray flowers are white or purple.

The plant has leafless flower stalks and is hairy below the flower.

Daisies can be used as food, as medicine or to know if somebody loves you :-)

Daisies belong to the Daisy family of Compositae, now know as Asteraceae in flowering plants. 

Origin: Daisies are native to north and central Europe.

 

Cultivation:Daisy generally blooms from early to midsummer although when grow under ideal conditions,they have a very long flowering season and will even produce a flew flowers I the middle of mild winters.

 

Etymology: The origin of the word, Daisy is corruption of “day's eye". It was called this because daisies open at down as the day at down as the day starts to begin.

Uses: 

• Culinary: This daisy may be used as a pot herb. Young leaves can be eaten raw in salads or cooked, noting that the leaves become increasingly astringent  with age. Flower buds and petals can be eaten raw in sandwiches, soups and salads. It is also used as tea and as vitamin supplement.
• Herbal medicine: Daisy has astringent properties and has been used in herbal medicine.
• Other uses: Daisies have traditionally been used for  making daisy chains in children's games.

Syringa vulgaris

Lila belongs family of Olives plant.  

This plant grows up in the southeast of Europe.

In Greek the name of the Lila is syrinx, this name means flute. With Lila´s wood people manufactured flutes.

The Lila is a tree with deciduous leaves, it is 6 meters tall. Its cortex is grey.

Its leaves are green, oval and with entire margins. The leaves are in the stem one opposite to the other.

The flowers have a tube with one corolla with four lobes. The color of the flowers is violet, and sometime is white.

 

This plant is in a lot of gardens and parks, because its flowers are very beautiful and the flowers have a nice odor. In Spain this plant grows in a lot of gardens.

Lila is the official flower of New Hampshire State, because is the symbol of the hard character of men and women of this place.

This plant is food for the caterpillar. Its flowers are very attractive for butterflies. Lila´s flowers are used to make perfumes.
