      FRESH WATER:

  by Lucas Jim茅nez

The fresh water is in the Rivers,Lakes, and Glaciers. Freshwater habitats can be classified by different factors, including temperature, light penetration, and vegetation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCbVpHfAB_4

 CHARACTERS:

Plants and algae are important to freshwater biomes because they provide oxygen through photosynthesis, and food for animals in this biome.
In fast streams and rivers many plants have special structures that keep them from being carried away by the water.
The types of vegetation are for exsample water lily.
The plants near the rivers and lakes there is a great variety of  plants and fauna.

In the freswater are some types  of  amphibians and fishes. For exaple Frogs, salmon and trout.
Coldwater fish species survive in the coldest temperatures, preferring a water temperature of  10–16 °C.
Warmwater fish species can survive in a wide range of conditions, preferring a water temperature around 27 °C.
Coolwater fish species prefer water temperature between the coldwater and warmwater species, around 16–27 °C.

Que come la rana

Many animals live in freshwater ecosystems. Some need the movement of the stream or river water to survive.
There are a variety of fish, birds, insects, amphibians, and crustaceans that make freshwater biomes their home.
The Antartica area there are not plants and a little bit animal.
The grant part of the freswater is in antartica.
The freswater is veri inportant for the life because we couldnt live in the earth.

FOOD CHEIN:
A food chain is a linear progression of food as it flows from one organism to another along a single path in an ecosystem.

NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE:

Thue humans dirty the rivers and the lakes and pollute.
The green peace is an asociation for keep the nature worl.

TEMPERATURE FOREST

                  TEMPERATURE  FOREST

Many temperate forest are located in Canada, the easter United States, Europe and China.

Temperatures are cold in winter and mild in summer. Rain is moderate.

Trees are mostly deciduous.

The is a wide variety of animals, which  often migrates during the cold winters.

For humans, the forest is very important because without these forest there would be no oxygen and we could not live.

Of animals it is also important for them because is their refuge.

Animals in temperate deciduous forest have to adapt to changin season.

TEMPERATE FORESTS

Characteristics

Temperate forests correspond to forest concentration formed in the northern and southern hemisphere, or in temperate regions. It is the same as a tropical forest except for the climate and some of the animal adaptations. Main characteristics include: wide leaves, large and tall trees, large wild canopy and non seasonal vegetation. Temperate forests can be further distinguished by weather patterns and geographical features that favor the predominance of certain kinds of trees. In temperate coniferous forests, evergreen conifers predominate, while in temperate broadleaf and mixed forests, a more even distribution exists between evergreen trees and deciduous trees. Temperate deciduous forests, a subgroup of temperate broadleaf forests, consist of trees that lose their leaves every year. Finally, temperate rainforests typically have heavy rainfall and dense humidity. But in some temperate forests there are just trees with needles and do not shed their leaves during the winter, so the climate is a little different and not as cold. They are also known as montane forests.

Negative Impacts
Humans have done serious deforestation to all forests. But the biome has been hit the hardest from the lumber industry, as thousands of square miles of rainforest are clear-cut. The main reason for this is because of the sheer size of the trees that grow in the Temperate Rainforest. The primeval forests of the pacific Northwest alone hold the 5 tallest trees in the world; and most of them are endangered because of over-logging. Other causes for deforestation are Urbanization and artificial forest fires.

Positive Impacts
Some people have gone at lengths to stop logging of the now-endangered trees and hunting of animals in the temperate rainforest. British Columbia has made quite a few species of tree illegal to export and poach, such as the Northern Spotted Owl, and Mountain Caribou. But alas, the government has a long way to go, as but five percent of the endangered species are protected.

                MARINE ECOSYSTEM:

                               Characteristics and location:

Marine ecosystems can be defined as the interaction of plants, animals, and the marine environment. By marine , we mean of, or produced by, the sea or ocean. The term encompasses the salty waters of the Earth , and is also known simply as a salt w谩ter ecosystem . As over 70% of Earth`s Surface is covered in water, and 97% of that water is salt water, marine ecosystem are the largest types of ecosystems on the planet.

Conventionally, the ocean has been divided into four major ocean basins: Atlantic, Pacific, Indian and Arctic oceans. Specific marine ecosystems such as coral reefs, estuaries, salt mashes, mangrove forests are found throughout the world, but are characteristic of certain areas, depending on climate, geography, water temperature, and other physical factors

Marine ecosystems support a great diversity of life and variety of habitats.

The ocean is a major influence on weather and climate.

                                                     Plants and animals:

Marine habitats are the home to seaweeds, or marine algae (brown, green, red), sea grasses, which are the only marine flowering plants, and mangroves, located on muddy tropical shores.
Marine ecosystems are homes to protozoans, marine invertebrates (echinoderms, mollusks, segmented and non-segmented worms, jellies, coral, sea anemones, hyroids) marine vertebrates (fishes, birds, mammals), and plankton (phyto and zooplankton).

                                     Food Web - Chain :

INTERACTION WITH THE HUMANS

Marine ecosystem threats

The threats that have impacted the marine ecosystems are pollution and overfishing . Pollution is impacting the marine ecosystems.

Pollution is kiking marine animals not only in the salinity drop, but also they eat or get trapped in harmful garbage, maire life in the ocean die form swallowing or getting caugth in trast everyday.

Overfishing is a threat for marien ecosystem because a decrease in number of a species will effect the marine food web disrupting the whole ocean. If overfishing causes a specie to became extinct in the marine ecosystem then it will have one of the species in the ocean to become overpopulated.

FRESHWATER ECOSYSTEM

The freshwater ecosystem is an acuatic ecosystem. It includes lakes, ponds, rivers and streams.

They are called freshwater because their water is not salty.

FOOD CHAIN

A food chain is when animals eat each others in an order (a chain). There are: producers, consumers and decomposers.

Here the producer is the algae.
The consumers, in this case, are the mollusks (primary), the slimy sculpins (secundary), the salmons (tertiary).
Finally the decomposers are the fungi (not in the picture).

INTERACTION WITH HUMANS

NEGATIVE EFFECTS

  1. Toxic spill from factories (they are like poison for the fish and plants).
  2. We can damage it by throwing paper, plastic...
  3. Too much fishing kills whole species.

POSITIVE EFFECTS

  1. We can use technology to filter rivers and lakes, so the get cleaner.
  2. We can protect some species from extinction by using fish farming ("piscicultura").
  3. We can clean rivers to remove bottles, plastic bags and other things thrown by humans.

FUN FACT

Some inventors have created a kind of vacuum cleaner to remove plastic and garbage from the sea. We could use them also in big rivers. They are called "seabins". You can learn more about them in this video:

1潞 cold deserts are found in the ANTARTIC, GREENLAND,NORTHERN and WESTERM CHINA,TURKESTAN,IRAN and the NEARCTIC AREA.

2潞 CHARACTERISTICS

  • large amount of snowfall in winter (and sometimes in summer),plus a high average of rainfall (15-26 cm.) occurring mainly in April and May or autumn, depending upon the area .
  • short, wet moderately warm summers.
  • mean average winter temperature -2 to 4潞C.
  • mean average summer temperature 21-26潞
  • heavy, relatively porous soil with a lot of silt and salt
  • good drainage to leach out most of the salt.
3潞ANIMAL ADAPTATIONS

deer inhabit some of these areas onlyin winter, having grown a thick fur coat, and then migrate in the summer season, after shedding this coat.
small mammals such as kangaroo rats, kangaroo mice, pocket mice, grasshopper mice, antelope ground squirrels, badger, kit fox and coyote, as well as several lizards, all dig burrows to wait out the cold weather.

4潞 PLANT ADAPTATIONS

two examples of heavy salt concentrations are the Great Salt Lake of the western United States and Iran, Aghanistan and Pakistan.
plants can vary from heights between 15 cm. and 122 cm,depending upon the area. Most shed their leaves (deciduous) and have spiny leaves. Ground cover such aslichens, are found in areas such as Torgerson island, Artarctica and cover much of the ground, whereas in other areas the plants are found quite apart from each other.

5潞 FUN FACTS

馃尦RAINFOREST AND JUNGLES 馃尦

"Jungle" and "rainforest" are two differents terms, but often there are confused. In this blogg We are going to learn the diferences between the two words.

JUNGLE: Is a term used to describe vegetation that is impenetrable. The jungle impide the progress of humans. There are not any crops and populations. "Jungle" is a general term.
RAINFOREST: It is a type of forest. We can find this type of forest in warm and rainy zones, for example in The Amazon.

RAINFOREST

馃槣CHARACTERISTICS

We are going to talk about the characteristics of the jungle and the rainforest.

- Jungle: is one of the most important ecosystems in the world. The jungle have a lot of differents animals and plants. It is impenetrable and you need some tools, like a mechete, if you want cross.

- Rainforest: the rainforest is a type of dense forest. The vegetation of the rainforest is tipycal in zones of high rainfall. The rainforests are very frequents.

Warm desert is a terrestial ecosystem.

CHARACTERISTICS

Animals
camel

The animals that live there, survive on very little water. Most of animals that live in the desert sleep during the day because it is too hot. They come out at night to eat.

Some of desert animals are: camels, snakes, foxes, scorpions, desert tortoise and lions

Temperatures are very high during the day and cool at night.

Precipitation is scarce. There is no precipitation.

Vegetation.- There is very little vegetation because there is no rain. Some of them are: cactus, palm trees, shrubs. Many plants have thick leaves in the desert to retain water. The soil is very sandy.

 INTERACTIONS WITH HUMANS

POSITIVE

There are many actions we can take that will have a possitive effect on the planet:

  1. Stop polluting the environment
  2.  Control animal hunting to avoid some especies extinct

NEGATIVE

We urgently need to control human activity in order to protect many species of plants and animals will become extinct. (like foxes or leopards, their fur is used to make coats).

Natural resources will desapear

Water will become too polluted to drink and animals or plants will die.
