Fresh Water Ecosystem

FRESH WATER ECOSYSTEM

Fresh water represents the 3% of the total water of the planet.
This ecosystem include lakes, ponds (smaller bodies of water surrounded by land), rivers and streams.

Example of  Freshwater Ecosystem

Plants and algae are important to freshwater biomes because they provide oxygen through photosyntesis, and food for animals in this biomes.

Many animals live in fresh water. There are a variety of fish, birds, insects, amphibians, and crustaceans that make freshwater biomes their home.

Example of Food Web

  • Without freshwater biomes you and I would not be alive. They are very important because they provide us water for drinking, energy and transportation, recreation, like boating and fishing, and many jobs like fisherman and researchers.
  • We can use rivers to produce hydroelectric power.

Facts:
  • 2.3 billion people affected by moderate to sever water stress
  • 70% water use soked up by agriculture

It's very important:
  • Conserve Water, using less water.
  • We must be carefull not to pollute.
  • We can make the agriculture more water efficient.
