VENUS FLYTRAP

Main Characteristics

- The Venus Flytrap is a carnivorous plant.
- It has two ways of eating: they can make their own food (photosyntesis) or they can feed on insects.
- Their leaves are able to close to catch insects.

Parts of the plant

 - It is a small herbaceous plant of between 5 and 15 cm.
- Leaves: Light green, arranged in a rosette (between 4 and 7 leaves).
- Each leave has two parts:
  • A proximal: consisting of two enlogated ans asymmetrical lobes of green color.
  • A terminal, whichconstitutes the trap formed by two symmetrical lobes of red color.
- Stem: is underground, rhizome type.



Reproduction

 Two types.

- Sexual: Through seeds. In this process helps insects, atrracted by the flower, insects carry the pollen from the stamen to the pistil.
- Asexual: when a leave, not joined to the rhizome, falls and becomes a new plant.

Funfacts

- The Venus flytrap is able to sense the presence of his victims because their leaves are covered with a ultra sensible hairs.
- Catch their prey in less than a second.
