THE NOSE

The nose is a protuberance that forms a part of the respiratory system in the vertebrates. It is the organ of the smell and the entry of the respiratory tract. Of very diverse conformation it is possible to indicate that it is clear basically of two bags, or cavities, one in case of the ciclóstomos, placed in the previous part of the head and opened on the outside by a number of orifices that it ranges between both couples for cavity, in case of the fish and one in others vertebrados.1

It has the form of a triangular pyramid of top vertex and low base, with two holes. Formed by bone, cartilage, muscles and skin, is draped internally by a portion of the mucous pituitary one.

For this motive the nasal eminence has given place to many sayings, legends and songs in the folklore, as well as the fact that certain historical prominent figures (or invented) are famous, besides for his facts, for the aspect of his nose or for facts related to this organ.
