The Chrysanthemum


Chrysanthemums are sometimes called mums or chrysanths

Chrysanthemum taxa are  perennial plants

It is a flower plant

Chrysanthemums are male plants

Its name provides from greek launguage

Plant out in mid-May, once the risk of frost has past. Space them 45cm (18in) apart  






Chrysanthemums are white, yellow or red

Chrysanthemums were first cultivated in China




It uses as a natural inseticide

There are about 40 valid species


Modern cultivated chrysanthemums are showier than the wild.

The flower heads occur in various forms like pompons or buttons.

Yellow or white chrysanthemum flowers are boiled to make a sweet drink in some parts of Asia.

In Australia,the chrysanthemum is sometimes given to mothers for Mother's Day

In Japan, the chrysanthemum is a symbol of the Emperor and Imperial family.
